Which AI Tool Should You Use? Lessons from Testing Real Accounting and Finance Workflows

When:  Apr 29, 2026 from 07:00 PM to 08:30 PM (ET)
Associated with  Akron Chapter

This session presents the results of a hands-on, task-based evaluation of leading AI tools, including ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Perplexity, and Gemini, across real accounting, finance, audit, and tax workflows. Rather than relying on marketing claims, the presenters tested each tool using identical prompts and evaluated the outputs as-is, asking a simple question: Would we actually use this in practice? Participants will see where different AI tools genuinely add value, where free versions are sufficient, where paid versions matter, and where AI introduces risk if used without professional judgment. The session equips accounting and finance professionals with a practical, workflow-driven framework for responsible AI adoption.

Learning Objectives:

After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:

Identify which AI tools perform best for specific accounting and finance workflows, such as financial analysis, Excel automation, research, tax explanations, audit support, and client communication.

Evaluate when free AI tools are sufficient and when paid versions provide meaningful additional value, based on task complexity and risk.

Apply a practical framework for using AI responsibly while maintaining professional judgment, verification standards, and ethical accountability.
